National Digital Health Strategy to Advance the State of the Healthcare System

To advance healthcare systems at the country level, a holistic approach towards digital health with a clear strategic agenda is required. Based on the current state of a country's healthcare system, the underlying infrastructure, and the socio-economic situation, a tailored digital health strategy is needed. Within such a strategic framework, targets need to be defined, the right policies and initiatives decided, and the right conditions for the healthcare ecosystem to thrive need to be developed. Our client wanted a tailored strategy considering the country’s overall vision and the current state of the healthcare system and its key institutions.

Our client has seen substantial advancements in its healthcare system, including all major healthcare KPIs such as the life expectancy of the population. However, as the country continues to prosper, the share of communicable diseases is increasing, and the country lacks a clear digital health agenda that supports the usage of new technologies for earlier detection, continuous patient engagement, and cost-effective treatment methods.

Client Challenge

Our healthcare experts assessed the status quo and benchmarked the country’s healthcare system, the underlying infrastructure (e.g., Universal Health Record, Data interoperability standards), as well as the mechanisms in place to foster healthcare innovation through financing vehicles, policies, etc. Based on the status quo and learnings from other good practice examples, we developed a holistic digital health strategy together with the client and detailed all major initiatives required to enable translation into policy making.

Our Approach

A national digital health strategy was developed that will have a positive impact on the healthcare system and the country's residents alike.
