Smart City Strategy for Holy City in KSA

We supported our customer in developing a Smart City Strategy for the holy city in KSA, aimed at enhancing the pilgrimage experience, improving operational efficiency, and promoting overall sustainability.

  • The city's current low digital maturity hinders essential improvements in the pilgrim experience, capacity, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
  • To effectively address these challenges, a smart city strategy is needed, incorporating a balanced mix of intelligent use cases and quick-win solutions.
Client Challenge
  • Defined the contours of the Smart City Strategy through a scoping study, focusing on technology domains, prioritizing stakeholders, and demarcating the physical and digital boundaries for future interventions.
  • Identified a pilgrim-centric set of 18 smart city use cases based on global smart city benchmarks and Siemens' expertise.
  • Outlined the technical requirements, budget estimates, and a phased 3-yearimplementation roadmap for the prioritized technology interventions.
Our Approach
  • Smart City Strategy to improve pilgrim experience, increase capacity, boost operational efficiency, drive sustainability, and encourage year-round use.
  • Further benefits for visitors and residents include better accommodation, healthcare services, cultural engagement, and continuous feedback loops.
