Sustainable Logistics Concept

Due to recent modifications in the manufacturing footprint, our client faced the need to adjust their logistics strategy accordingly. By harnessing the power of digitalization, we developed a comprehensive and environmentally-conscious approach to lead our client towards a successful future.

This approach resulted in a remarkable 100% increase in onsite storage capacity, allowing our client to accommodate a larger volume of goods within their premises. Furthermore, internal transportation efforts were significantly reduced by an impressive 19%, streamlining operations and optimizing resource utilization. These improvements not only enhance efficiency but also contribute to a more sustainable logistics system.

A manufacturer of industrial goods needed to re-allocate products, work content and technologies within its key manufacturing site as a result of changes in the manufacturing footprint.

Client Challenge

To cope with new requirements towards material flow and warehouse space under restrictions of a diverse product portfolio, we redesigned the setup of internal plant logistics with our client.

Our Approach

The developed concept not only reflected the needs of the future manufacturing site but also leveraged digitalization potentials such as automated goods receiving and latest generation warehouse management systems. According to client requirements, the new setup delivered a doubled storage capacity to consolidate external warehouses and still accounted for a potential reduction of 11% in warehouse costs along with a decline of 19% in internal transportation efforts.
